Improve Your Aim with a Rifle Laser Sight
Rifle shooters everywhere desire to have better aim consistently. Many use scopes and magnification devices and some use other things like range finders and spotting scopes. One of the better ways to do this is with a rifle laser sight. These are simple devices that you can mount yourself very easily.
Many types of rifle laser sights simply attach to the barrel or to the rail on top. A red or green beam of laser light is projected onto the target. On the target, it is a small dot and that is where the shot is supposed to hit. Of course, the laser sight has to be "sighted in" to be dead on, but this is simple to do as well.
The main thing you need to be accurate is knowledge of your specific firearm. After you have fired it a few times, you will know how the weapon reacts and where the shot is liable to go. Every rifle fires differently so you need to get to know your rifle a bit. Then you can work on your aiming techniques including the use of a rifle laser sight for improved aim and shot placement.
To accurately use a rifle laser sight, it is important to use what is called the "B.A.S.S." method. The initials stand for Bead, Aim, Squeeze, and Shoot. All this takes place in a matter of seconds. You pull up the firearm, draw your bead (or place the laser on the target), take aim, squeeze (not pull) the trigger and shoot. Some shooters take a small breath and hold it right before the shot is fired. This is a matter of preference for the individual shooter.
Using a rifle laser sight can improve your aiming in several ways. First, it puts a visible dot on the target for reassurance that you are on the desired spot. Once you have the laser sight "sighted in", the guesswork is pretty much eliminated. Not completely, but mostly. You still need to adjust a bit for distance.
Let's say you have your rifle sighted in at 50 yards and you know the bullets you are using drop at a rate of ½ inch per 50 yards. At a range of 50 yards, the laser sight is dead on the shot placement. At a higher range of let's say 100 yards, you would want to aim ½ inch above the intended target spot. That allows for the ½ inch of droppage after the initial 50 yards. I hope that is clear.
Once you have this all figured in and have practiced extensively, your aiming will be improved dramatically. That rifle laser sight will put you on target every time and you will actually see where the shot is to hit.
The really great thing about laser sights is that the light beam that is projected is absolutely invisible and only you can see the dot on the target. In hunting situations, the target will never even know you are targeting them. In target shooting applications, nobody else will see anything except the laser dot on the paper target.
A rifle laser sight can and will absolutely improve your aim. It just takes a little practice and a little adjustment; that's all.
