Best Climate to Play Paintball: In the Rain?
People play in the rain for the love of the game and the rain adds so much diversity and challenge to the game.
When playing in the rain, everything will be muddy and slippery: therefore running, stopping and crouching will be more difficult than normal ; visibility will be lower; and wind can make paintball scenarios more difficult. All of these make playing paintball challenging which is exactly what paintball fans look for; the action and the thrill!
Here are some tips so you can enjoy your paintball game on a rainy day:
1. Wear something that keeps water off of your body, such as a poncho, “slicker”, "Gortex" or even plastic garbage bags. It is very important that you stay dry so you don’t tremble as this will affect your movement, ability to aim and can be very uncomfortable.
Remember to cover your head too. Wear any waterproof covering but make certain that water will not be sliding down your face and steam up your goggles. Wiping the fog from your goggles each time you pause behind a tree or a bunker can distract from your concentration on the game.
2. Take paper towels with you. The lens on your mask, even if it is a thermal type of lens, will fog up and paper towels come in handy; you can just wipe off the fog. Do keep in mind that you should turn away from the action - in a “sitting duck” (crouch) position - before you wipe the fog from your mask.
3. Wear boots or cleats instead of sneakers to keep your feet from getting all squishy.
4. Wear gloves to keep hands flexible.
5. Having drenched paintball gear can be really annoying. You should take extra garbage bags for use as spare coverings. These can be used to cover your gear and function as a raincoat in emergencies. Large plastic see through bags also are great for covering the head, hoppers and the gun. You can effectively turn your marker into a waterproofed gun by simply covering it with plastic and securing it with rubber bands.
There are really so many techniques to add thrill to your paintball game: just allow your imagination to run wild and experiment with things. Have fun in the rain!
My son has a fantastic set of gortex camos he found online. He really likes them and I tend to agree since they repel water much better than a regular set of clothes

PAINTBALL MASK help!!!! PLEASE ME?
which mask would be best for play any time of the year and fog the least? the proto axis thermal http://www.tippmannpros.com/Proto-Switch-FS-Anti-Fog-Goggle-System---Black-P420C37.aspx or the empire Vents event thermal blue camo http://www.pb2u.com/Empire-Vents-Event-Thermal-Paintball-Goggle/M/B000TGSZSO.htm?traffic_src=froogle&utm_medium=organic&utm_source=froogle?
E-vents are a solid choice, but anything with a thermal lens is what you need. When it comes to masks, you tend to get what you pay for. If you see a mask advertised as having a double-paned thermal lens and they are charging $25.00, stay away. I'm not saying to go out and drop $100.00 on a mask, but don't get too cheap either.
Also, don't be afraid to check out craigslist or Ebay. I actually bought my mask (e-vents with two thermal lenses, one clear and one tinted) off of craigslist for $40.00 and got a collapsible stock thrown in for free.
