All You Need To Know About Poland Special Forces?
The special forces in Poland are called GROM and are a division of the Polish Army. The acronym of GROM means thunder in Polish and they are deployed for a variety of special operations, including unconventional warfare.
Their History
GROM was formed in 1990 and is currently part of the Polish Army, although it began under the Polish Ministry of Interior. GROM was formed to defend Polish citizens after two diplomats from Poland were shot during Operation Bridge while transferring civilians.
How To Become A Member Of GROM
Those who wish to become a member of this special forces operation must be able to endure special forces training similar to that of those like the Navy Seals, SAS, SBS, Delta Force and others. Both men and women can become members of GROM.
GROM Training
GROM training includes psychological as well as physical testing with extensive field testing. They must undergo specialized training in anti terrorism, scuba diving, parachuting, sniping and all special operations. GROM targets terrorists for elimination, not capture, unlike the police.
What Are They Best At?
They are best at unconventional warfare, intelligence gathering and anti-terrorism. Most of them are proficient in at least two foreign languages.
Weapons Of GROM
Weapons GROM include the Colt M4A1 assault rifle, the Bushmaster M4A3 Assault Rifle, the Bushmaster XM 15E2S, the KAC SR-16 Carbine, the Glock 17, SIG P228, SIG SG 551, Heckler & Koch USP, MP5 submachine guns and assault rifles, FN Five SeveN, FN F2000 Tactical, FN SCAR, FN Minimi Para, various sniper rifles, PGM Hecate II, Manroy M2 QCB to name a few. They have a heavy arsenal of weapons and have alliances with the United Kingdom, United States, Germany and Israel.
Known Missions
They were successful at extracting 6 CIA agents from Iraq during Desert Storm, Active in Bosnia, Operation Uphold Democracy in Haiti, Eastern Slavonia where they arrested at least 6 Yugoslavian war criminals, Kosovo, Afghanistan and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Units
Units include 1st Special Commando Regiment, 6th Aeromobile Brigade, Anti Terrorist Units of the Police and various units of special divisions.
Are They Professional Soldiers?
Those in GROM are professional soldiers and are considered to be on par with many of the elite special forces in the world, including the Navy Seals and SAS.

What is everyones favorite patrol weapon / carbine ?
Bushmaster, colt, armalite, shot guns, pistols, etc ?
The Bushmaster AR 15 is a great patrol rifle although I recently purchased a SOCOM 16 which I think is great.
Pistol for me a Glock 17C. It is the 9mm compensated version. I know some people do not like the 9mm cartridge because it is not powerful, I like it because it is cheap. I find that I need a lot of practice to stay ready on a pistol. I would rather hit with a 9mm than miss with 357 SIG.
I have a SAIGIA 12 gauge shotgun, it is the AK 47 version of a shotgun. I love it. It is very reliable, feeds well, accurate and the recoil is very light.
