How To Choose The Right Holster
Too often, we purchase gun holsters that we don't wear because they don’t fit our dimensions and forms, handgun or the circumstances under which we need to carry our firearm. So let’s take a few moments to summarize the critical attributes of concealment gun holsters.
Ideally, a gun holster will conceal the firearm nicely. Some holsters are sometimes inconvenient to carry since they are way too bulky. Keep in mind when and for what purpose you will be using the holster. For instance, if you are going to be wearing tight fighting shirts then you want to stick with a holster that sits as close to the body as possible. If you will be wearing a coat or jacket such as in the winter months then this is not as much of an issue.
The most popular concealment holster is the pancake style. The pancake holster attaches to the pants belt on your strong side. This type of gun holster is easily concealable AND accesible.
Shoulder holsters are good concealment holsters if you plan on sitting for peroids of time. Wearing the holster this way prevents your gun from sticking into your side while in the sitting position. This is why many pilots and bodyguards wear them.
My least favorite concealable holster is the ankle holster. Though highly concealable, the ankle holster makes for a very slow draw. Think about it, should you need to draw your weapon quickly, you will first need to pull your pants leg up. Hopefully you will be wearing loose fitting pants and even then the time it takes you to get to your gun can mean disaster.
So keeping all of these things in mind, make a decision that suits your needs. Choose wisely and save yourself a closet of unused holsters.

Which is the best kind of concealment holster for a Springfield 1911?
I am a bail bondsman who has a concealed weopons permit, I am going to start going after skips very soon and would like to know which holster is the best to keep it concealed, but available in need be? I was looking at the one that goes around the shoulders, as well as the one that goes in the back. anyone have any experience with those?
It is a full size gun.

I've carried one since I was in the MP'S and love it.
I've tried just about every type of holster for it and the most comfortable for long term and security have been the the leather in-side the pants paddle style.
Of course that's just my preferance.
I'm about 200 lbs and 6"1', I don't know how comfortable these would be if your larger than this.
