Operating at remarkable print speeds in both black and white and color, the HP Color LaserJet CP4005dn is designed for heavy usage and high output. With a high monthly duty cycle, great color toner specifications, and a warranty included, the LaserJet CP4005dn is a model to consider for the business with heavy, full color workload demands.
While black and white print speed tops out at an impressive 30 pages per minute for letter sized paper, color print times are not far behind at 25 pages per minute. Thanks to HP's innovative hardware, warm up times are almost non existent while in standby mode, making first page out times of as fast as 10 seconds for black and white prints, and 12 seconds for color.
The HP Color LaserJet CP4005dn boasts a maximum monthly duty cycle of up to 80,000 pages, meaning it was built to withstand almost constant use, though HP recommends much lower numbers for optimal performance, ranging between 2,000 and 7,500 pages. If problems do arise, HP offers a respectable coverage plan including a 12 month limited warranty and both web and phone based tech support. For this model, and others in its price range, HP also includes guaranteed next day, on site service or replacement.
While the HP Color LaserJet CP4005dn is no lightweight device, with a 107.8 lb curb weight and a footprint of 20.5 x 23.5 x 24.7 in (W x D x H), its hardware specifications do not disappoint. While the HP Color LaserJet CP4005dn's sister model, the HP Color LaserJet CP4005n, is available with a network card included, it does not include automatic duplexing. The CP4005dn has both an Ethernet port and fully automated double sided printing possibilities, making it a powerful option for networked offices.
With HP's ColorSpere technology, color accuracy is increased, making fine differences in color and image depth as close to perfection as possible which allows images to appear more realistic. Four individual toner cartridges also help to keep waste at a minimum, and colors looking their best.
A standard memory of 256 MBs should be more than sufficient for many print demands, but complex print projects can occasionally bog speeds down to a degree, which is why many printers, especially color lasers, leave memory expansion slots open. Unfortunately, the HP Color LaserJet CP4005dn is not memory expansive.
Paper handling, on the other hand, is adjustable. With a 500 sheet standard paper tray that can potentially hold an entire ream of paper, along with a 100 sheet multi functional tray, the HP Color LaserJet CP4005dn comes with an impressive base total of 600 potential sheets of storage space. When paper output requires more storage, a single 500 sheet additional tray is available for purchase separately.
While quality levels for both black and white and color rest at only 600 x 600 dots per inch, HP's innovative Image REt 3600 resolution enhancement technology drastically increases the appearance and effective resolution of the output, making the HP Color LaserJet CP4005dn an incredibly fast color laser printer that can still pull off a good looking product.
