I'm about to do my practice expedition the weekend after the Easter holidays (just went on my training weekend, it was great fun

And knowing what the weather's like right now in Scotland, it's probably going to be crap weather. What things are ABSOLUTELY necessary when I'm going? For example, do I really need to have a whistle if the rest of my team members have one? Oh, and I am carrying the tent poles and pegs in my group and getting thermals and waterproof trousers on Thursday.
