Second Hand Treadmills - A Used Treadmills Can Save You Money

It's expensive to buy a good quality treadmill brand new at retail prices from any treadmill retailer. However, if you shop around and are willing to go the extra mile to ensure you find a good deal, then shopping for second hand treadmills from classified ads, online auctions and other private sales, is a great way to save a lot of money.

When you are looking at secondhand treadmills you need to be careful to ensure you actually do get a great deal and not a machine with maintenance issues in its near future. Buying a used treadmill is very much like buying any other kind of used machinery. Think of it like you were buying a used car - there are a lot of questions you would want to ask and you'd naturally want to take it for a test drive. Buying a second hand treadmill is the same kind of thing.

You want to ask the seller a lot of questions and you definitely want to switch it on and take it for a trial run. You need to ask questions like how old the treadmill is, how much usage it gets, whether there have been any repairs done, what do they not like about it which is causing them to sell it and so on. Most people are honest when asked a straight question so ask all the questions you can think of.

What you are basically looking for is second hand treadmills which have barely been used by their owners. You want the used running machines which were bought by someone with great intentions say for a new years resolution but which they soon got bored with. What you don't want is the workhorse treadmill for marathon runners which has been pounded every single day for hours on end. Sure, you're buying used but you want it to be as close to new as possible to really get great value.

You also want to trust your own eyes when shopping for secondhand treadmills. You want to look the treadmill over and consider how much wear and tear you can see visually to get an idea of how much usage it has received as external condition is as good a feel for internal condition as you are going to get.

Check out things like the belt, which will be worn down if used a lot or just have a few minor scuffs if the owner has barely touched it. Also look at things any the balance bars and handles, especially if they have rubber grips as again, this is something which gets worn down easily with a lot of use. Remember, you are looking for a bargain price on a treadmill with minor usage.

Finally, you want to give it a whirl. Jump on and test out a few of the programs. You want to test out all the mechanical features to check for issues. So, running, walking, incline controls etc. Check whether the belt moves smoothly, whether there are any squeaks, knocking noises etc. and if the treadmill has any folding features, i.e. if its a folding treadmill, then check that works without issues too.

You can find a super deal by buying second hand treadmills instead of paying full price on a brand new one but remember these are without warrantee so you really do need to fully check them out before you make a purchasing decision of any kind.
