Scouting demands Starcraft2 players, of any Starcraft race, to generate knowledge and know how to react to their enemy actions based on what they have observed. If you handle your scouting well but have some difficulties interpreting the information clearly, sit back from a game, watch a replay and analyze what build you see on a player or several players. Organize your observation with the following order and always question the player's motivation, because a good player never acts without reasoning to justify it.

In the early game,  free psp games downloads the point of early scouting is to pinpoint where your enemy's base is located among trying to expose what their opening builds are. Once assured of your enemy's location and the distance and possible routes between his base and yours, carefully observe his next moves and ask yourself the following:

? Is your opponent going for an aggressive, defensive, or tech build?
If you spot an aggressive build, you'll see multiple gateways, multiple upgraded barracks or a few Zerg queens with tier 1 buildings, and of course a fast growing army for early harassment. A more defensive player would turtle in their base, blocking off access to their base and likely set up a few defensive structures, in attempt to covertly form an army uninterrupted. Tech builders will focus on quickly getting to high tier units by assembling upgrade structures, playing defensively as well.

? Is your opponent planning to proxy build close to your base?

If you cannot find any activity you'd usually observe in their base, you might be dealing with an aggressive build hidden somewhere closer to your main. You can also count their harvesters and see if there is one or a few short on staff.

 

? How much vespene gases will your opponent harvest?

Knowing if they have one, two or no gas harvest should provide you an idea of what kind of units they aim to produce.

 

? Will they fast expand?

A lot of mining with an excess of harvesters and a small army size can also mean they plan to expand, especially when your opponents are building defensively.

 

In mid game, scout with the following in mind:

? What is the size and composition of your opponent's army?

 

If you aren't able to see the entire army, taking a look at how many army buildings he has is also revealing. Also take note of any enemy rally points: the closer the rally points are to your base, the more aggressive they are behaving; the closer they are to their own, the more defensive.

 

? Which upgrades does he have?

By clicking on their unit, you can see any damage or armor upgrades. You will unfortunately learn of their ability upgrades during a battle.

 

? Are there any enemy expansions?

Your opponent may already take advantage of outlying resources, either shortly before  Cross Channel or after he confronts you, or if you have remained defensive for too long.

 

? Are there any air units?

Is he preparing to paratroop your base, form an air army, or just using them for scouting and harassment?

 

If you're finally into the late game, scouting will be limited to any surprises if you've done so thoroughly. The late game is a matter of keeping your scouting units in strategic positions, while pushing forward with your mobile force. Your map control will help you locate where the enemy army is moving and where they intend to attack next. Keep your scouting units or buildings well spread out and replace them when destroyed.
