Laughing in the face of adversity: Female security guards, and why you need one
Sexism is clearly the opening topic for 2011; need the names Andy Gray and Richard Keys even be reverberated? Demeaning women is so 1900s, but it has caused a surge in controversial, topical debate causing most publications to scream the question; ‘Is sexism rife in 2011?'
A look across job spectrums shows that there will always be leniency towards the male species in certain roles, but sometimes a female hand in those areas can actually improve and offer a new service altogether.
For example, a look at the Security industry tells us that there are far more male security guards than their female counterparts. Yet, realistically a female security officer can handle opportunities, and meet demands more than males could in certain scenarios, specifically those dealing with sensitive issues or child care.
Quite obviously, female security guards are needed for female searches in airports, but when considering the above; female officers should not be pigeonholed to certain security jobs or roles because of their gender.

Showing us that the industry could be slowly changing, much to the annoyance of characters like Andy Gray and Richard Keys. Hey – even Rihanna has a female security guard at her beck and call.
SIA Licensed
The only risk you have when hiring female security guards, is if they are not full vetted and licenced by the Security Industry Authority (SIA). But this is a risk you may face when hiring any security guards, make sure you do your research on all companies before choosing your security guards.
Fully SIA licensed ladies can deliver a subtle yet effective performance whether you need static security guards, a mobile patrol service or retail security.
It is a legal requirement for anyone working in the United Kingdom as a security guard to be fully licensed and vetted by the SIA. They have two main objectives. First, to oversee that high training standards are met within the security industry and secondly, to manage the Approved Contractor scheme.
Whether you want a male or a female security guard, it's appropriate to bear in mind the task and level of service at hand. Security companies are witnessing a growth in female applications, applying to do the same tasks as men.
First, women these days feel safer and secure around other women, rather than men. This is why female guards are proving to be more and more useful, especially in certain areas like airport pat downs.
Female guards can also be deployed where a sensitive issue is at hand. They can be used for schools, hospitals and prisons where a male security guard may be posed as a threat.
