False Rape; an assualt on justice and equality
Most people do not know what a problem false rape allegations are in the US (and west in general), some will believe what they hear and most of what they heard was during the Duke Lacrosse scandal where they were bombarded by misinformation that "false rape is rare" (see Nancy Grace). What they were not told was that every credible study commissioned on false rape concludes that it is a major problem.
Most of what we hear from feminists is that false rape is a not so serious problem; they like to repeat the lie that only 2% of rape allegations are false. Their has never been a study that concluded only 2% false rape figure, Edward Greer did track down how feminist came up with their baseless figure though. Most people would never guess that false rape allegations are running rampant in the west, it has reached such a level that the Orlando police recently claimed that "false reporting has reached an epidemic level" (this was said after an 18 year-old lied about being raped.)
You can confirm the problem that false rape reporting is by looking at the Eugene Kanin study that confirms 41% of rape allegations to be false in a metropolitan community over a nine year period. The US airforce also commissioned a study on false rape allegations and they confirm 60% of rape allegations to be false.
"The McDowell team studied 556 rape allegations. Of that total, 256 could not be conclusively verified as rape. That left 300 authenticated cases of which 220 were judged to be truthful and 80, or 27%, were judged as false. In his report Charles McDowell stated that extra rigor was applied to the investigation of potentially false allegations. To be considered false one or more of the following criteria had to be met: the victim unequivocally admitted to false allegation, indicated deception in a polygraph test, and provided a plausible recantation. Even by these strict standards, slightly more than one out of four rape charges were judged to be false.
The McDowell report has itself generated controversy even though, when rape is a frequent media topic, it is not widely known. Its calculations are no doubt problematic enough to raise serious questions. If, out of 556 rape allegations, 256 could not be conclusively verified as rape, then a large number, 46%, entered a gray area within which more than a few, if not all, of the accusations could have been authentic. If so, the 27% false allegation figure obtained from the remaining 300 cases could be badly skewed. Moreover, the study itself focused on a possibly non-representative population of military personnel.
The McDowell team did in fact address these questions in follow-up studies. They recruited independent reviewers who were given 25 criteria derived from the profiles of the women who openly admitted making a false allegation. If all three reviewers agreed that the rape allegation was false, it was then listed by that description. The result: 60% of the accusations were identified as false. McDowell also took his study outside the military by examining police files from a major midwestern and a southwestern city. He found that the finding of 60% held."
Most people also don't know how much damage a false allegation of rape can do, the Duke Lacrosse boys were "lucky" as they did not suffer any type of lasting damage other men and boys have not been so lucky though. Take Corey Headen who was beaten to death with a baseball bat by Clifford Martin as he lay sleeping in his bed, this was after two teen girls falsely accused him of rape and like most false rape cases (Duke Lacrosse case) the false accusers were not charged for their crime.
If false rape reporting is ever going to stop then more people are going to have to be willing to take it seriously as it can do lasting damage to the men and boys who are victims of it.
