Finding the Right Multi Tool Blades
Multi tools are basically designed to work in tight spaces to allow for quick repair of objects. Undoubtedly, the most popular among multi tools, is the Swiss army knife. These are multiple tools that are incorporated in a small and compact knife and are small enough to fit into your pocket. Typical tools in a multi tool include a knife, scissors, screw driver, pliers, small saw, can opener, reamer etc. Among recent manufacturers include Fein Multimaster, Dremel Multimax and Bosch. Some brands like Leatherman have been retooled to feature large knives, strong pliers, wire cutters, and locking blades and include tools like hard wire cutters, serrated knives, diamond coated file, large and small bit driver, lanyard attachment, and wire stripper.
These instruments function by working back and forth of the tools blades. Thus the tool is safe and much-in control making them appropriate for every trade. The instrument can be used for different uses besides being used as a cutter.
There are several blade types and make sure you are looking for the right one. These blades range extensively in power, speed and functions. You could either choose from a high power, high speed or less powerful but portable styles. Among the common blade types include course toothed- that are generally employed for cutting green wood, hack saw- that's generally applied to cut metal, knife-that can cute everything right from leather, rubber, cloth and linoleum and fine toothed-that cuts wood, and plastic.
When buying blades, for your tools, make sure the blade pattern fits all makes and models of multi oscillating tools on the market. There are some manufacturers like FitzAll multi tool blades that have a unique arbor pattern that let you position the blade 8 ways. This is different from the general trend where most manufacturers make blades that let you position them 4 ways. These blades aren't effective when you need to position your blade at a 45 Degree angle on your tool.
As earlier said, these multi tools are great for cutting, scraping, sanding, grinding and polishing in areas where other large tools do not fit. Every multi tool works well as long as there are helped by the right blades and the right accessory. While every manufacturer has different and special blade for his tool, manufacturers like FitzAll, make blades to suit every tool.
And for those looking to buy oscillating blades, make sure to buy one that offers accuracy, can be used for an extended range of applications and can cut many materials with a reduced vacuum.
