Ask some of your team mates who did theirs.
If you never plan on removing them, the best way to put 'em on is with a hot glue gun. Use a some wax paper, or cardboard between the front and back of the shirt, put the glue on the patch, stick it where you want it and put a heavy object on it to make it flat. You can also buy fabric glue at most Wal-Mart but the hot glue works faster.
They can be removed later, but will leave a spot on the jersey.
