Free Horse Racing Picks Sunday From Sunland Park
Trainer Steve Asmussen goes where the money is, and with $50,000 in purse money on the line in this year's renewal of the Bold Ego Handicap, his #3 SELECTIVE looks to be one of the contenders in a very contentious race. Shipping in from Remington Park, #3 SELECTIVE has had a stellar 2010 campaign after being sidelined for more than a year.
If you're looking at back class, #6 MISS HEATHER LEE, a former Bob Baffert trainee that is making her third start for Chris Hartman, danced some big dances when running in Southern California. She's fired fresh before, so the layoff since July doesn't really concern me.
Both of these ladies should get perfect stalking trips since there seems to be enough speed in this 5.5-furlong dash. If a speed duel doesn't develop, however, #1 FACIL CATANA could be the controlling speed from the rail, and this local hero is in good enough form to steal the race.
All in all, the Bold Ego Handicap is a good betting race with several contenders at square prices. Let's see if we can link up the right combinations.
SELECTIONS
1. #6 MISS HEATHER LEE – horseracing-predictions.com This gal is no stranger to competition, having run second to the fine filly Blind Luck back in 2009. Her two races under trainer Chris Hartman have been lights out, and a big effort off the bench is a likely scenario.
2. #3 SELECTIVE – She's been ultra-consistent with only one out-of-the-money finish. She's making the second start of her form cycle, and she knows how to pass horses when the real running starts.
3. #1 FACIL CATANA – I don't like that she loses the apprentice weight allowance here, but she's a horse-for-course that has sharp early speed, so she can flee the rail and dictate the running. She's going to face some heat, but she should be fit enough to stick around for a piece.
LONG SHOT VALUE PLAY: #5 LINNEA – She's only 4/1 on the morning line, but I have a strong feeling that she'll be around 6/1 or higher given her last two races. She has some figures from back in the day that put her in the frame, and she seems to be a short-distance specialist with a solid 5-of-7 record in the money.
WAGERING STRATEGY
I'm perfectly content boxing an exacta with horseracing-predictions.com #3 SELECTIVE and #6 MISS HEATHER LEE, and I'm excited to make a win/place bet on 'Heather if she's any part of the 6/1 morning line (though I expect her to be way shorter than that). Shotgun question?
Just bought a Remington 870 express for shooting 3-gun matches (primary purpose), home defense. I want to trick it out a little. I do plan to mount some type of optic on it and I saw somewhere one that had a picatinny rail that ran the length from the receiver to almost the end of the barrel. I don't know if this was a custom job or if it was available on the net or elswhere. If anyone knows what I'm getting at, any help would be appriciated.
Just to modify my question, I'm looking for the long rail that I described. Any good ideas?
Check out surefire, or extreme outfitters. I have a Mossberg 500 that I "tricked out" as you put it. I replaced the forend with a 3 sided surefire rail system, and mounted a laser dot and surefire flashlight on it, with a pistol grip. Then I got a adjustable tactical stock that adjusts to however long you want it. It's pretty sweet. Check out these sights though.
