Starcraft 2 Tips and Strategy: Zerg units: Queen

Starcraft 2 is one the hottest game in the gaming market today. What I am going to talk about is one of the must have unit in the Zerg arsenal, Queen. The Starcraft 2 tips I am going to share with you is a basic introduction to Queen and how professional Starcraft 2 gamers use this unit to its best potential.

 

Introduction to Queen

 

Requires: Spawning Pool

Producer: Hatchery

Cost: 150 mineral 2 food 50 seconds

Type: Biological- Psionic

Speed: 0.945

Class: Ground

Hitpoints: 175

Armor: 1

Energy: 200

 

Weapon: Acid Spines(Air)

Range: 7

Damage: 9

Attack speed: 1

Bonus: -

Effect: -

 

Weapon: Talons (Ground)

Range: 3

Damage: 4

Attack speed: 1

Bonus: -

Effect: 2 Attacks

 

Ability

Spawn Creep Tumor

Spawn Larva (Injected into a Hatchery 4 Larvas will spawn in 40 seconds)

Transfusion (Instantly restores 125 hp to target zerg unit or building)

Burrow

 

Upgrades

Ground Carapace ( Increase armor by 1)

Melee Attacks ( Increase Damage by 1)

 

This Starcraft 2 tip shows the basic structure of a Queen you can notice Queen does not need any larvae to produce thus making them "larvae cheap" and can be a great source of anti-air in the early game.

 

So what are Queens good against?

They are generally fairly good against early solo air unit rush like the Voidray.  Queen is not an offensive unit to start with so the Queen is generally weak when fighting another unit solo. However the Queen being a superb support unit with Transfusion, mass Queens with constant transfusions to each other is a force to be recon with.

 

How do we use these Queens like a pro?

Some simple Starcaft 2 tips of using them are:

 

Mass queens for early air rushes.

This Starcraft 2 tip is when you know your opponent is going into a fast Voidray, Pheonix, Mutalisk or Banshee rush, start massing up Queens to counter them as 4-5 Queens can easily end an early air harass with some micro and Transfusions to each other.

 

Use them to make your Spine/Spore Crawler last longer.

Since in Starcraft 2 Queen's Transfusion does not only heal zerg units, Transfusion also heals Zerg structures. With this Starcraft 2 tip, when under siege, some Transfusions on static defenses like the Spine/Spore Crawler can determine if you can win the battle or not.

 

Mass Queens with Tier 3 units.

In Starcraft 2 late game plays, Zerg players normally will tech to the 2 ultimate units in the Zerg arsenal the Ultralisk and the Broodlords. These 2 units can deal huge damage for every second they stay alive in a battle. In this Starcraft 2 tip, I will recommend sending a bunch of Queens behind pushes with tier 3 units can keep these precious unit alive for a much longer period if time which allow them to tear up opponent's army winning the battle.
