Using Police Lights For Taking Control Of The Crime Scene
Crime scene investigation is a delicate job and a very time critical one also. Police needs to reach the venue fast and gather as much evidence as possible before it is destroyed, and try to get hold of the suspects as well. They are aided substantially in the job by their police lights with various functionalities.
The light intensity of the police lights and the way in which they can be easily switched modes to function as a flood light, or spot light, or into a signaling strobe, helps them in examining things thoroughly, and in signaling to distances when circumstances necessitate it. Besides, many police lights come with add-ons in the form of spy cameras, and audio or video recording facilities.
There are tactical police lights with high resolution video recording facilities that can instantly capture the entire goings on at the crime scene even when the policemen are engaged in conversation or questions. The recording can then be downloaded to the laptop for detailed viewing and analysis. Similar police lights are there with hidden spy cameras. The suspects can easily be photographed by focusing the light on them discreetly, without giving away the secret of the existence of the hidden camera.
The colors used in police lights also aid in taking evidence at the scene. Blood trails are said to show up better under blue lights so that policemen often use flashlights with blue LED lights to examine markings at the scene. Likewise, ultra violet lights are helpful in tracing sweat or saliva or other body fluids so that it is also used in police lights. Green lights are less used though it is often stored by police going out to sea or deeper waters in connections with investigations.
It is not just the type of police lights that are used at the crime scene that can help in controlling the situation and finding faster solutions, but also the way in which they are used. This is more important about the way police vehicle lights are used while approaching the crime scene.
Usually when they get the information of the perpetuation of a crime, the police arrive at the scene in what is generally known as code3 response, which refers to a response with active police lights and sirens. This active mode helps the police to find their way faster to the crime scene by clearing traffic. It also helps them to give advance information to the people waiting for help at the crime scene.
However, activating police lights and sirens will warn the criminals of the police's arrival so that they will make good their escape. Some criminals try to mingle with the crowd at the crime scene in order not to arouse suspicion, but if they sense the police's arrival, they are bound to flee. So, many criminologists advocate that the police should arrive at the crime scene in unmarked vehicles, without police lights and sirens to be able to gather evidence and confront suspects better. In many instances, policemen use concealed police lights and sirens to manage this effectively.

Tactical police vests?
Can anyone give me a link or website that sells those police kevlar tactical vests that have the velcro name tags on them? I have been checking quartermasters and galls but i must be looking up the wrong item or something because i can't find them.
You can find them for sale ( used) on eBay from Officers selling old equipment. Run a search for " tactical vests" or "ballistic vests". They are not cheap, but you get what you pay for. Be advised, you can legally purchase one, but you cannot wear one in public with Police patches. Some areas do not allow civilians to wear them at all.
