Metal Artwork
There are many types of crafts like work with wood, metal, textile, stone, earthenware and sculpture. And metal artwork is very popular all over the world, because items made of metal or decorated with metal are very attractive and interesting from artistic point of view.
In the metal artwork the following metals are usually used: silver, copper, iron, alloys like bell metal, white metal and bronze. The examples of metal artwork are vessels, utensils, crockery, sculptures, design items, jewelry, photo frames, figures of saints, monuments of people and animals, doorknobs, valves and key chains.
It is often that during the making certain metal items the wax is used. In the beginning the model is made of wax. Then it is covered by the clay. And the last stage is using melted metal. At this stage melted metal replaces the clay and in such way wax and metal are the main ingredients which are used to make a certain metal figure. Finally the model is cooled.
There are several types of metal artwork which are connected with such metal as brass. A lot of utensils and items of household are made of brass and are decorated with brass.
Metal is used in such process as soldering, engraving, damascening and enameling. The results of these processes are wonderful objects made of metal of parts of metal. Metal artwork is wide-spread all over the world. For example in India there is special type of metal artwork which is called naquashi. It is a complex process which includes printing of flower and calligraphic patterns on copper and silver. Another interesting type of metal artwork is called Koftagari. This process means encrustation one metal into other metal which is in form of wire. Such type of metal artwork is used for producing swords, daggers and shields.

general orchestra questions?
I have three questions and I hope you all can help me answer them. I've had these questions in my head for a while.
1) For European or Asian orchestra that English is not the main language in the country, are the musicians over there required to learn English? Since English is sort of a universal language? How would that work with say a Guest conductor? How would they communicate?
2) How exactly do you meet orchestra musicians after a performance? I realized that some performance let audience to go to a room to meet the singers and musicians. I don't think every orchestra let people do that, so how do you guys meet musicians or conductors that you really admire?
3) Sometimes when you are attend a concert and you realize that some musicians have small parts, like they "don't do much". e.g. brass and percussion instruments. I am wondering do they get paid the same? *smiles*
Thank you so much in advance!!!
1-- If the conductor is any good at all, music is truly the universal language, and he can communicate his directions in that universal language. If he needs help on a specific point, there is always someone that will help translate. "Allegretto" is understood by any musician, especially at the professional level.
2-- Just go back stage to meet them. Most of the time they appreciate recognition at their level, since the conductor and soloist gets most of the credit for a performance well done! It is more difficult to meet the conductor or soloists, simply because they have friends that can get you to them. The best time is simply going to a rehearsal and try to get to them, or write them a letter expressing your interest.
3-- The orchestra gets paid according to their "chair" within their section. If they are the only special instrument. i.e. harp or English horn, the pay is usually attached to how well they play or how many apply for the specific concert.
