Anybody own a Weatherby Vanguard?
Today I purchased a Weatherby Vanguard in .300 wby mag. It was supposed to be .300 win mag, and on top of that when I opened the floor plate there was no clip/magazine box. Is a Vanguard supposed to come with a clip or do I have to buy one? (Well apparently I do, but maybe they forgot to put it in?)

So travis, you are saying I can switch it out and get a couple free boxes of shells?
Vanguards don't have a clip, or mag. There should be a spring and follower attached to the floor plate. If it isn't there, talk to the store and they should be able to get you one. Now for the caliber, that 300 Weatherby is a heck of a caliber. I'm just glad you caught the error before you tried to touch of a round of 300 win mag in it. The Weatherby is a little more expensive to shoot, but if you reload, the difference is negligible. I am a big fan of the 300 Weatherby. In factory ammo, it actually outshoots the 300 Ultra mag. In standard, common, factory loadings, only the 30-378 outpaces it. You may not need the extra velocity, but it does make for one flat shooting elk smacker. Now at this point you have the store owner by the cajones, if this was his mistake, make him throw in a couple boxes of shells. He should be eager to deal, as the ffl transfers, etc with exchanging your rifle with another would be a real pain. If you choose to keep the rifle (and I do believe it is your choice here), I have a feeling that you will be a member of the 'anything your Winchester can do, my Weatherby does better' club.
